Other Activities at Victoria Falls

One of the coolest and craziest things to do in Victoria Falls is whitewater rafting. The water flow during high water can be 4-5 times the colorado river, especially during this "El Nino" year. It is definitely graded level 5 - maybe 6 if there is one. All this water - believe it or not - makes the river "less" exciting because there are fewer bumps. Since the water hits the rocks well below the surface. It's much more intense in October. But still, 2 people drowned on the river the week we were there. Too much water is still v-e-r-y dangerous.

This was our starting line up. Hans is flanked here by two retired airline pilots. One from United and the other on my left from South Africa (help out with names guys). The Shearwater Adventure staff were great and made sure we had a safe trip.

Tiffany and Hans did a horseback safari through Victoria Falls National Park. We loved it and recommended it to everyone since it was a great way to see animals - with animals.

Here we have Tiffany next to one of the famous and impressive Boab trees which can live 5000 years. The scaring on the tree comes from the elephants who spear the trees with their trunks to get water from the tree. This tree is 3000 years old.

We met a lovely and proud family from near Johannesburg, South Africa, on vacation in Victoria Falls who told us all we wanted to know about malaria.

Tiffany also loved our other Vic Falls accommodation, a chalet that cost us only around $9 US/day. Only 50 times cheaper than the place down he street. We made several trips through Vic Falls as we went from Zimbabwe to Botswana for safari trips.

While Hans went white-water rafting, Tiffany checked out other nice places in Victoria Falls. There were several resort-like places to stay at while on safari. Check out this pool, great when you're all hot-n-sweaty from chasing animals all day.

With nice places like this, all those great natural attractions, and fun activities its quite certain that Victoria Falls will continue to grow in its role as Southern Africa's premier tourist destination.
